STUDY IN CANADA: YOUR GUIDE TO SUCCESS
Why study in Canada?
Canada remains a leading choice for international students, aiming to host 305,900 newcomers each year from across the world.
Renowned for its world-class education system, diverse cultural landscape, and accessible routes to employment and permanent residency, Canada provides an exceptional chance to shape a promising future in a secure and inclusive environment. Pursuing education in Canada requires following a clear set of steps to fulfill both academic and immigration obligations.
Here’s what you need to begin your journey:
School Selection and Program Choice
Research programs that align with your academic and career goals. With Canadian institutions there’s a wide range of options from Business to Engineering to Arts.
After selecting a program, submit your application to the institution. Admission requirements and deadlines vary from every institution and program.
Once admitted, you’ll be issued a Letter of Acceptance, an essential document needed to apply for your study permit. Some universities are eligible to offer a work permit after your study completion, known as PGWP: Post-Graduation Work Permit.
Study Permit Application
Next, apply for a study permit. This permit allows you to study in Canada legally. You’ll need the following to apply:
- Proof of funds
- Valid passport
- Passport-sized photos
- Letter of Acceptance
- Provincial Attestation Letter
- Statement of purpose
- Police report and medical exams report
- Letter of intent showing you’ll leave Canada after your study completion.
The accepted proof of funds includes bank statement, bank draft, student loan, scholarship letter, or paid tuition. Pay the visa application fee (CAD 150). You’ll be asked to provide photos and fingerprints for biometric identification.
Waiting for processing
Note that processing times vary by office, it’s best to apply early. When your application is approved, you’ll be issued a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of introduction and a temporary resident visa (if required).
After Graduation- Work and Stay
After completing your studies, you can extend your stay by applying for a Post-Graduation Work Permit to explore permanent residence pathways. This step is key for those aiming to work and settle in Canada long-term.
